What we did this Summer

We have FINALLY reached the last day of the long, eight week summer holiday! It has been a summer of extreme babyishness from Polly and endless bickering between the two of them, but it has also been lots of fun and I’ve mostly enjoyed having them around. Here’s what we got up to:

WEEK ONE:

-We kicked off the holidays with a bang by having Olivia to sleep round (while Tabitha slept at Jac’s).

-Tom and Polly spent the day at Wimbledon (with Ros and Margaret) while Tabitha had Tommy round for a playdate followed by a long cycle to and from Richmond Park for horseriding. Ros and Margaret slept over and we had lunch at the Hare and Hounds the following day.

-During the week we went for a swim in Putney, played at Mortlake Green (with Sophie and Noor), went to the Wetlands, and went to Dukes Meadows (where Polly met her birthday twin).

WEEK TWO:

-We caught the sleeper train to Edinburgh and spent two nights at Alex’s aunt and uncle’s flat. We went to Portobello Beach on the Friday and then to Jupiter Artland on the Saturday (Mi mi mi mi meeeee).

-We went to see Barbie at the cinema.

-The girls did a couple of youth club sessions.

-The girls did a day-long forest school in Holland Park while I wandered around the Museum of Brands.

WEEK THREE:

-Matt, Margaret, Ishya and Emmeline came to sleep over. We had lunch at the Hare and Hounds on the Saturday and then the on Sunday they all went to the Natural History Museum.

-We did a week of swimming lessons at Putney Leisure Centre and the girls did some youth club sessions in the afternoons.

WEEK FOUR:

-We had a weekend of extreme hosting with the D’haenes to ours on the Saturday and then the Cotterells on Sunday.

-On the Monday we collected Nanny Pam from Waterloo station and the girls enjoyed an afternoon with her before we left for Ibiza on Tuesday morning.

-We spent the first three nights in Portinatx which was a lovely little bay in the north of the island.

WEEK FIVE:

-Still in Ibiza, we moved down the coast to Santa Eulalia where we spent four nights. The girls enjoyed playing with all the kids by the pool and we took a ferry to Formentera island.

-We then spent two nights in Ibiza Town next to the very impressive Old Town. We spent a day at a waterpark over on the west of the island and got bitten to shreds at a beach club on the south.

WEEK SIX:

-We saw Nanny Pam off at the station and then went to the Hayward Gallery and had noodles.

-The Bihlers were finally back from Mexico and Austria so we caught up with them at the green and then Polly went for a playdate at Olivia’s (I tried to take Tabitha to Go Ape but it was fully booked so we ended up doing mini golf!).

-Tabitha went for a playdate at Naina’s.

-The girls did a day-long art camp with Carla which included street dancing and drama.

WEEK SEVEN:

-We went to the dentist and for lunch at 222 in West Kensington. We then walked to Chelsea where the girls and Tom did Clip n Climb. We then finished with a drink at the Bluebird before getting a cab home.

-We had another weekend of full-on hosting with the Bihlers on Saturday and Ritu and Naina on Sunday.

-On Bank Holiday Monday we went to see Elemental at the cinema and had lunch at The Crossing.

WEEK EIGHT (Yes it is STILL the holidays!!):

-The girls did horseriding in Richmond Park (while Tom enjoyed some skateboarding in the car park!).

-We went to the collectors fair and had lunch in Cote.

-We went to a gallery in Vauxhall followed by lunch and Vauxhall City Farm. We then rode the Thames Clipper along the river to Putney.

-We spent the afternoon at Duke’s Meadows with Jac and Olivia.

-We went to Battersea Children’s Zoo.

And so begins another school year. Year 4 for Polly – first year in Upper School – and Year 6 – final year in primary – for Tabitha!
